I've always wanted some rims and big beefy tires, but I have honestly no idea how big I can go without rubbing the tires. I also don't have much interest in any sort of lift kit. I wouldn't mind some wheel spacers I guess, I've heard good and bad things about them so shoot me some advice! So what are my options here?
I'm kind of hoping to get a 20 inch rim, I have 17 inch stock rims and they're just too small and it looks awkward. But I don't know anything anyway so shoot me some sizes and (cheaper) brands of rims that are trustworthy! Not looking to spend a ton, I would say I would be okay with spending about $1800ish. Post up some more info on your truck, is t 4x4? If you have a picture that would help too. It also depends on how big of a tire you want to go with.
A tried a true upgrade is a 2' level, you can keep it simple and go with any name brand lift spacer, these are easy to install and you they only run around $125. With this you can easily run a 33' tire.Just keep into consideration that any decent set of 33' all terrain tires will set you back at least $1,200. So you might not have enough to get some name brand wheels. A good option would be to buy some used factory option wheels. Craigslist is always crawling with second hand FX4 wheels from many generation F150's. I like the look of a 'meatier' tire vs a big wheel, small sidewall trend that is popular right now. I think going with some 18' FX4 wheels and some 33' tires would look good.Edit: I just googled and found this post.
This guy is running a 2' lift with some 2007 FX4 wheels and a 35'x12.5x18 tire. That looks great imho and is probably he biggest tire you can fit in there with that amount of lift. 33x12.50 is about as big as you'll get while keeping it stock. You should be fine with no lift and a stock offset. If you go to a negative offset(like a -12) you'll likely need to cut a little bit of plastic but nothing major. Even then it might not rub at all.A 20 inch rim will fit without issue as well.As for your price, a decent set of AT's or MT's is going to run about a grand and up. I'd see about finding a used set of rims that isn't absolutely eaten up.

Normal wear and tear is fine but try to stay away from any curb rash or obvious dents/flat spots. Also, you could run a 275/60/20 if you didn't want to go with a 33x12.50. It's still 33 inches tall but is a bit narrower. If you're going with AT's you'll likely come out a bit cheaper.Edit: And keep in mind that going to a very negative offset is not actually benefiting the truck. In fact, It's hurting the handling and steering characteristics of the truck for a purely aesthetic benefit.Source: I sell tires and rims for a living.
More about Wheels for Cars, Light Truck, and SUVsCustom wheels can enhance the appearance of a car, truck, SUV or RV, while making it uniquely and stylishly yours. For many vehicles, the original wheels can be replaced with larger wheels that will allow the installation of high-performance tires. Once you’ve selected a set of wheels, you can choose a correctly matched tire from our wide selection of on-road and off-road tires.Amazon.com sells more than 10,000 varieties of custom wheels. So whether you’re looking for a four-spoke wheel, a five-spoke wheel, a contemporary blacked-out designer wheel or a classic chrome-reversed wheel, you’ll find a wide variety of styles and sizes from which to choose right here.
In addition to unbranded designer wheels, we offer wheels that are specific to vehicle brands. Among these are both replicas of original equipment wheels and high-style custom wheels that feature the logo of a particular vehicle. Before shopping for wheels, you must determine the correct bolt pattern for your vehicle, including both the number of bolt holes and the diameter of the wheel’s bolt circle. You also need to know what amount of positive or negative offset is necessary to maintain optimum handling of your car, truck, SUV or RV.
It’s important to note that wheel well clearance is limited in most vehicles, so choose a tire and wheel combination that will not contact the vehicle when turning or when the suspension is compressed. Some vehicle manufacturers provide information regarding maximum tire and wheel size in the owner/s manual. This information can also be found on various websites.
